GENERAL ADMINISTRATION

Programs and activities of the BRADD are operated under the general direction of a Board composed of representation from the ten county area. The Executive Director coordinates and administers a staff to provide the programs and services set forth by the Board. Goals and objectives of the BRADD are outlined in the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS), which is updated annually.

AGING SERVICES

Administers the provision of aging related services in the ten county region, through the Area Agency on Aging.

COMMUNITY AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Provides assistance to local governments and industrial development agencies developing physical resources to meet demands for community, business, and industrial growth and expansion. Assistance is provided in securing state and federal grants and low interest financing, and through the provision of project planning, low cost administration, and technical information. Areas of primary assistance include but are not limited to: water and sewer infrastructure expansion, industrial facility development, community and housing facility development, and small business and industry gap financing.

INFORMATION SYSTEMS AND DATA SERVICES

Maintain and provide a variety of information ranging from Census data, maps, and transportation counts to the creation of data sets using the Geographic Information System (GIS) and Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) tools. Staff can develop marketing studies and collect primary information for potential projects.

EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING SERVICES

Administers job-training and employment services in the region to prepare economically disadvantaged youth, adults and dislocated workers facing barriers to entry into the labor force.

GOVERNMENT SERVICES

Provides a broad range of services to local governments including technical assistance, training and publications. Assistance includes such topics as financial management, personnel, general government, criminal justice, legislation, legal issues, recreation and planning and zoning.

NATURAL RESOURCES PLANNING SERVICES

Provides staffing support for activities to protect the natural resources of the ten county area. Programs include water supply planning, waste management and air quality programs. Activities consist of collection and development of geographic and attribute data for the Regional Water Supply Plan, maintaining the U. S. Corps of Engineers navigation and water supply plan, staffing the Natural Resources Planning Council and the Mammoth Cave Biosphere Advisory Council.

REGIONAL ETHICS PROGRAM

Provides assistance for local governments faced with complying with the Kentucky ethics legislation. Assistance includes the solicitation and maintenance of required information and enforcement process of adopted ethics standards.

TRANSPORTATION PLANNING SERVICES

Provides coordination of transportation of planning efforts between the State and local governments and provides information and technical assistance to local governments for street and road funding and development of airports, bikeways and public transportation systems. Staff assistance is provided for the maintenance of the BRADD Regional Transportation Council;Public Safety Coordinator; and MPO Board & Programs.
