Drought: Impacts

Both rural and urban regions can suffer a variety of impacts from drought (Figure 4-5). These can be broadly categorized as economic, environmental, and social. Impacts may be short term or long term. The following list of drought impacts was modified from a list produced by the National Drought Mitigation Center (National Drought Mitigation Center, 1998). The list addresses those impacts that are most likely to impact the Barren River Area.
