HAZARD MITIGATION

SPECIAL PURPOSE COMMITTEE

EARTHQUAKES

SEPTEMBER 29, 2005

The Hazard Mitigation Special Purpose Committee for Earthquakes met Thursday, September 29, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. in the BRADD Conference Center. (See attendance record)

Eric Larson, Chairman, called the meeting to order.

Mr. Larson reminded the committee that the deadline for comment to be submitted to Alfonso Casana is October 15. Mr. Larson also went over the plan in three sections to see if there were any comments.

Mr. Gary Chenowoth, Barren County, asked why six firehouses were not listed in each section for Barren County. Mr. Casana made note to add the firehouses for Barren County.

Mr. Larson asked Mr. Casana what areas still needed more work on to review. Mr. Casana replied to make sure each member take the plan to their counties and go over the check list. Mr. Casana explained that input is very important from every county. Once all of the comments are in the complete plan will be reviewed before submission.

Mr. Dave Butt, Simpson County asked who should be given the report in their counties. Mr. Casana replied to take to mayors and judges. They will present to the community. Mr. Casana explained that the action plans need to be very detailed. The action plans explain what will happen when a disaster occurs. He explained that the key to the document is the location – not just on a shelf somewhere.

Mr. Larson suggested the committee review the plan and take back to the coordinators in their counties to see if they have comments, and if there are comments, please submit to Mr. Casana before October 15.

With no further business, Mr. Larson adjourned the meeting at 2:00 p.m.
