SPECIAL COMMITTEE MEETINGS

(Regional Mitigation Planning Council)

The five Special Committees are beginning the risk assessment portion of the Barren River Regional Mitigation Plan. This step is essential in developing the plan, which is required to keep the area's businesses and residences eligible for federal emergency assistance in the event of a natural hazard. The BRADD goal is saving lives and reducing damage.

The members of these committees were selected during public meetings in each of the ten Barren River Counties. Their meetings will be open and the minutes will be posted on the BRADD website: www.bradd.org/hazard

The schedule for the five special purpose committee meetings is:

The committees will be assisted in their first meeting by a state climatologist, Stuart Foster. Dr. Foster will be joined by Dr. Nick Crawford in the meeting dealing with karst. The meetings will be held at 3 p.m. in the BRADD offices, 177 Graham Avenue.
