MINUTES
REGIONAL MITIGATION PLANNING COUNCIL
AUGUST 26, 2004, 2:30 p.m.
Mr. Jack Eversole opened the meeting giving an explanation for the purpose of the Regiona lMitigation Planning Council. Jack discussed the grant and the importance of every county in the BRADD region being involved. He also discussed BRADD and the Barren River Development Council (BRDC) and its relationship with BRADD in supporting the Council.
Mr. Eversole introduced the Hazard Mitigation planning team and what their role in the council would be.
Mr. Eversole identified the five (5) areas for which special sub-committees will be appointed: Flooding; tornadoes; cold waves; heat waves and earthquakes.
Mr. Eversole introduced Dr. Stuart Foster, Department of Geography and Geology, Western Kentucky University. Dr. Foster had a power point presentation on the hazards that have occurred in South Central Kentucky. Dr. Foster will be working with each of the five sub-committees.
Ms. Jill Giannini and Brian Youpatoff have collected data for the BRADD Hazard Web Site Resource. Jill discussed how to access each of the areas on the web page. The web site address is www.bradd.org/hazard/
Jill explained that Dr. Foster's presentation can be accessed on the BRADD web site. Minutes of the meetings and any materials will also be posted on the web site.
With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 3:30 p.m.
