BRADD Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan
This site has been prepared to open communication with members of
our
communities in the region as well as to provide the most current
information on natural hazard in the region. Participants and
the public are encouraged to call or send
us e-mails with your concerns, comments, or any information that is
considered valuable to this endeavor.
This site will keep you up-to-date of the whole planning process.
The BRADD will provide maps, reports, and information of
the region needed to understantand the risk so communities can minimize
or mitigate the effects of natural hazards.
The BRADD at Risk
Natural hazards do not observe political or
geographic boundaries. The
building stock, infrastructure, and national resources in every State
and territory that are at risk include the following:
- Single- and multiple-family dwellings, including manufactured
housing
- Miles of roads and highways, railroads, and transit systems
- Underground pipelines associated with oil, gas, water, and
electrical utilities
- Federal, State, and private-sector buildings
- Schools, colleges, and universities
- Factories and manufacturing facilities
- Small businesses and shopping centers
- Bridges
- Civic centers and places of public assembly
- Hospitals and health-care facilities
- Monuments, historic buildings, and museums
- Conventional powerplants
- Airports
- Dams
- National forests and parks
