Russellville Senior Center Named Senior Center of the Year

The Barren River Area Agency on Aging Staff is very proud to announce that Russellville Senior Center was presented the State and District Senior Center of the Year Award for 2006, in the Category of Average Daily Attendance of 51 and over.   The Association of Electric Cooperatives, Inc, Vice President of Member and Public Relations, Dennis L. Cannon, presented an award plaque and a $300.00 check to Russellville Senior Center Manager, Juanita Marshall at the September 8, awards presentation ceremony at the Kentucky Healthy Aging Conference held in Louisville, KY. Russellville Senior Center receives Title III Older Americans Act, State Homecare and local funding from the Barren River Area Development District/ Area Agency on Aging to provide services to the 60 + population in Logan County.  Services include Friendly Visiting,  Telephone Reassurance, Outreach, Injury Risk Reduction, Health Promotion,  Transportation and Medication Misuse  Prevention, Congregate and Home  Delivered Meals. Russellville Senior Citizens stay very busy volunteering to  provide many of the services that are available through the senior center. 

In addition, the Division of Aging Services and the Kentucky Area Agencies on Aging presented Franklin Senior Center an award for the District Senior Center of the Year for 2006, in the Category of Average Daily Attendance 51 and Under.
