Job Fair for Belden Employees

The BarrenRiverAreaCareerCenter hosted a job fair on August 10th for the employees of Belden CDT in Tompkinsville. Nine employers were on hand to take applications for positions within their companies.  Also present were the Barren River LWIA and the Office of Employment and Training.  Approximately 140 employees attended the job fair with hopes of finding suitable employment with another company upon their layoff.  Belden announced in June that the company will be closing.  The company plans to start phasing out employees August 25th and should be completely closed by the end of 2007. Belden came to Tompkinsville in 1981 as a manufacturer of coaxial cable; today they currently employee 235 individuals.
