Education Cabinet Awards Scholarships

The Education Cabinet will award $1000 scholarships to agency customers pursuing post secondary education.  The scholarships must be used for tuition, books, lab, and technology fees at a Kentucky postsecondary institution.  The Workforce Investment Act department will be accepting applications from any customer that received WIA serves from January 1, 2005 and April 30, 2007.  Applicants will be required to write an essay limited to 600 words on Kentucky’s brand “Unbridled Spirit” and how this theme relates to their educational and career goals.  Two character references must also accompany the application form.  The deadline for submission to our office is April 25, 2007.  Results will be announced by June 30, 2007.  Last year over 200 applications were submitted and 30 were awarded throughout the state with one being a BRADD WIA customer.  Applications and guidelines can be found at www.educationcabinet.ky.gov.
