Have You Heard? The entire month of May has been designated as Older American's Month in Barren River Area Development District (BRADD). BRADD Area Agency on Aging is joining the rest of the nation in celebrating and honoring our older adults. Each year since 1963, the month of May has been set aside for the purpose of honoring our country's oldest Americans.
It is a month to celebrate the many contributions older persons have made and continue to make to our society and the many ways each of us can help make a strong, positive impact in their lives. You'll have the opportunity to participate in several local events that focus on health, nutrition, exercise and disease prevention, senior games, and elder abuse prevention.
For more information about the activities in May or to find out how you can get involved, call Michelle Hines, Aging Planner or Debbie McCarty, Director of Aging Services at the BRADD office at 781-2381 or 1-270-781-2381.
Honoring and Recognizing Seniors 100 Years and Older
In celebration of Older American’s Month, the BRADD/AAA staff is requesting the names of individuals who are or will be 100 years of age and older during 2006 in the BRADD area. Certificates will be issued to them throughout the Month of May. The BRADD/AAA staff would like to honor and recognize these individuals. We will continue to honor persons 100 years of age and older until December 31, 2006. If you know someone who will be turning 100 years of age and older, please contact Michelle Hines, Aging Planner or Debbie McCarty, Director of Aging Services at the BRADD office at 781-2381 or 1-270-781-2381.
