Aging at home is the biggest incentive for the elderly and disabled throughout the Barren River Area Development District when it comes to advocating for
In– home services. The unmet and projected need for in-home services is an issue that must be addressed and planned for now. Seniors, caregivers and disabled citizens throughout the community advocate for an increase for the Division of Aging Services Funding during the General Assembly Session. Many seniors, caregivers and disabled participants have called and will continue to call, email and fax their concerns to the Message Line in Frankfort requesting the 23% increase for additional funding in the Aging Services budget over the next 2006-2008 biennial budget. Such an increase would enable the Aging Network to expand services, increase home delivered meals, and begin to reduce the long waiting list for homecare, adult day care and personal care attendant programs.
