Seven members of the Workforce Investment Board attended the National Association of Workforce Board Annual Conference. Forum 2006 – Think Local, Act Global, was held February 25 – 28 at the Renaissance Hotel in Washington, D.C.
This year’s annual Forum focused on the impact global trends continue to exert on America’s economy and how they pose particular challenges for the workforce as well as business and industry expansion. Off-shoring, competition from global markets, and rapid advancement of technology in the workplace are compelling realities for both employers and their employees…all are changing the way Americans work and will work into the foreseeable future. Gaining a greater understanding of these forces and exchanging knowledge, ideas, and solutions was the primary objective of Forum 2006.
WIB members had an opportunity to learn from global economy watchers, business and education leaders, public policymakers, workforce specialists, economic developers, and community practitioners. Over 55 workshops as well as 10 discussion roundtables were offered to the attendees.
