EDUCATIONAL CONFERENCE



The 4 th Annual Mental Health and Aging Coaltion Educational Conference, “Preparing for the Baby Boomers, Are you ready?” will be held on May 2, 2006 at the Living Hope Baptist Church at 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. Topics that will be covered include: Elder Abuse, Domestic Violence, Phamacy Issues, Ethics, Fair Housing, Message Therapy, Communicating with Alzhiemer’s Patients, and more. Barbara Deeb, WKYU PBS Public Affairs and Host will present “Perceptions of and Changing Faces of Today’s Senior Citizens” during the Luncheon Keynote Session. The cost of registration is $20.00, which includes CEUs and Lunch. CEUs will be available for Social Workers, RNs and Health Care Administrators. BARREN RIVER SENIOR CITIZEN’S DAY TRAINING

The Barren River Area Development District Area Agency on Aging Staff is partnering with Kentucky AARP State Office and Community Action of Southern Kentucky in conducting training, “Your Life, Your Health and Your Community.” The training will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2006 from 9:30 to 2:00 pm at the Fraternal Order of the Police, 150 Corvette Drive , Bowling Green , KY. This training is apart of AARP’s “It’s Not Too Late to Enroll: Campaign for Medicare Part D.” Other topics include, Self Advocacy, Foster Grandparent Programs, Senior Games, Volunteering and AARP Chapters. The program is being held for Senior Citizens who want to learn more about opportunities within the community after retirement. The public is invited to attend. Registration will be limited to the first 150 participants.
