The Barren River Citizen Corps is planning a third meeting on Friday, April 21. Since authorized by the BRADD Board last fall, Chair Marie Smith has convened the Corps twice.
State Director Jaime Shipley attended both meetings, delivering materials and guidance.
Fire Corps training was presented the day before the March meeting. The April Corps meeting is set for 10 am (CT) with the Volunteers In Police Service (VIPS) training session to follow. A portion of this program will include suggestions for establishing Neighborhood Watch projects. Emergency Response training is set for July 26. Training for the Medical Reserve Corps is scheduled October 24. The training sessions are a part of the Citizen Corps goal of increasing awareness and helping families learn to be secure in their own homes from dangers from any source.
The Kentucky Office of Homeland Security will be sponsoring a training conference in Lexington April 4-6. Those attending will receive training in preparing applications for State and Federal grant funds. For information, check with Ashley Willoughby.
