Miles Farm Supply Field Day

Executive Director Rodney Kirtley and Senator Richie Sanders attended this year’s field day highlighting a project that is being worked on jointly between Miles Farm Supply and the State Governmental Associations on renewable fuel production using Canola as feedstock.  Collaborative research is being conducted between state and private industry to investigate other oil crops and their effectiveness to produce biofuels.

The Canola market in the state of Kentucky was about 20,000 acres back in the 1980’s.  Due to lack of adapted genetics, crop protection products and local marketability, this acreage has virtually disappeared over time.  This year’s research highlights over 100 different lines of Canola that are available to us today.
