Edmonson County recognized by Senator, Congressman

Presentations of an American flag which had flown at the Capitol in Washington, D. C., and a framed copy of an article in the Congressional Record were presented to the county at Monday's meeting of Edmonson Fiscal Court.

Sen. Mitch McConnell's liaison, LeAnn Crosby, presented a copy of an article in the Congressional Record printed in the Daily News titled "Edmonson Leads U.S. In Army Recruitments." Sen. McConnell applauded the patriotism and service of the residents of Edmonson County. The county had the highest percentage of Army recruits in the county in 2006.

Sen. McConnell told the Senate, "The people of Edmonson County are carrying on Kentucky's longstanding history of service and are proving their dedication and support as the United States continues to fight terrorism. I am proud to represent such loyal and selfless citizens."

Phyllis Causey representing Congressman Ron Lewis presented a flag to the county and a letter congratulating the county for the patriotism its citizens have shown in service to the military.

Senator Richie Sanders attended Monday's court meeting as well as newspaper publisher Jeff Jobe, who is a candidate for the 9th district senate seat.
