The WIA Department is very excited about this past quarter. We have many factories that are hiring in our area: Bowling Green Metalforming, Quebecor World, S-R of Kentucky, Stoody Company, ArvinMeritor, Renaissance Mark, AFNI, Franklin Precision Industries, Danafilms, Hanson Aggregates, and KIRIU USA Corporation. This program year has brought a few changes to the department. We are still in the transition phase with the addition of the Trade program. Also, the WIB allotted funds to provide Older Youth Individual Training Accounts (ITA’s) for customers 19-21 that meet the necessary criteria. These ITA’s will pay for $7,000 of tuition, fees, and books for certificate, diploma, and associate degree programs at approved training providers.
Our intake case managers at the Bowling Green and Glasgow Career Centers are busy helping customer with finding employment, assisting in job search, resume writing, and application submittals. Our in-house case managers are currently case managing customers at the following schools: Bowling Green Technical College, Hair Design School, Career Development Center Truck Driving School, Education and Training Resources, Draughon’s Jr. College, Hopkinsville Community College, Glasgow Health Occupations-Bowling Green Technical College, Lindsey Wilson College, Madisonville Community College, PJ’s School of Cosmetology, Professional Truck Driving School, South Central Barber Collge, Tennessee Technical College, Truck Driver Institute, and Western Kentucky Unviersity.
