First responders in the Barren River Area face difficulty in situations requiring communication with other first responders. This difficulty would be magnified if a major incident from natural or other hazards required extended communication with hospitals, utilities, State or Federal officials.
BRADD applied for funds to relieve the problem. This project will help by tying existing local equipment in with a platform for APCO-25 compliant digital communication. The project will help provide equipment enabling first responders to communicate regionally, regardless of system or political boundaries.
The system will be scalable, allowing local agencies to communicate with current equipment and enhance their local systems as they upgrade to digital trchnology. |
