The BRADD received a check totaling $500,000 to begin Phase I of its inter-operative communications system for First Responders.

The project will help address the gap of interoperable communication in the region by tying existing local equipment in with a platform for APCO-25 compliant digital communication that does not exist currently in the area.  The system will allow local agencies to communicate with current equipment and enhance their local systems as they upgrade to digital technology.

The total project cost is expected to exceed $3 million when completed and fully operational
