GPS ROAD CENTERLINES

Under contract with Kentucky Transportation Cabinet we are updating the GPS road centerline files which were created between 2001-2004.  During the update, maps are produced by the ADD staff and reviewed by local officials in each county.  During the review errors and omissions are corrected while newly constructed roadways are collected and attribute changes are made.  Three key items are reviewed during the process:
     1. Completness of the road inventory. Our goal is to have every road in the county collected in the data          set, including private roadways.
     2. Accuracy of the ownership attribute. Each segment of road is coded with an ownership category          with the most common being State, County, Municipal and Private .
     3. Accuracy of the length. The length of County maintained roads are important to review since these          maps will be used in the creation of the new County Road Series Maps.

Counties data sets will be reviewed and updated annually.  The current project schedule is as follows; Warren County January 2006, Edmonson County February 2006, Hart County March 2006, Butler County April 2006, Allen County May 2006, Monroe County August 2006, Logan County October 2006, Simpson County November 2006, Metcalfe and Barren December 2006.  These are the dates in which the county is due to be completed and submitted to KYTC, work will begin about 2 months prior to due date.
